• A haulage company that had three Scania trucks stolen in separate incidents before Christmas has recovered one truck with help from West Midlands Police.
In mid-December, thieves stole two trucks from John Shepherd Transport's yard in Worcester and then returned just two days later and took a third, a loss of equipment totalling £107,000 (CM2 Jan).
However, West Midlands Police contacted Shepherd three days later to tell him his 6x2 400hp Scania P124 tractor was parked—with a stolen trailer—in a side street just off the M6 in Birmingham.
But the two stolen Scania eight-wheel insulated-tippers (P114 340 registered X916 KOE, and P124 360 plated S559 VOE) have not been recovered, although the theft was witnessed.
Shepherd has since improved security by parking a tractive unit with fuel cut-off and two trailers across the entrance to his yard.
West Midlands Police were unable to comment on the inci dents as CMwent to press.
• Another Midlands company was relieved of its vehicle when thieves took a Scania P114 380 (registered 8F52 JZL), from Berryman in West Bromwich.
The truck has skip load equipment and coupling, and has a distinctive green and yellow body and cab.
It was stolen between 6pm on January 2 and 4am the following morning. if anyone has any more information they should contact: Chris Kelly on 07774 746 633 or e-mail chris.kelly@scania.com.
