THE COLLAPSE of parts distributor Intertruck last month (CM19 December) led to the immediate closure of the group's 27 depots and the loss of 315 jobs.
Intertruck was placed into administration on 16 December, with Philip Duffy and John Whitfield of insolvency firm Duff & Phelps put in charge of the business.
Duffy confirmed a skeleton staff had been retained at Intertruck's Solihull HQ and within the branch network for administration purposes.
He said: "There is no doubt that a difficult trading environment over the past 12 months has played a huge and significant part in the collapse of the business." Earlier in December SDC Trailers revealed it had pulled out
of a planned deal to off-load its parts and service business FP&S to Intertruck.
Intertruck was sold in 2012 by Unipart Commercial Vehicles (UCV) to a private company led by Graham Roberts, who became MD. The sale to Roberts, previously MD of motor parts factor AEW, was due to a perceived conflict of interest between it and UCV's other truck parts business TT C.
Intertruck itself offered parts to fleet operators and independent repairers serving the truck, trailer, light CV and bus and coach sectors.
In October it revealed it had recruited 20 new sales staff and invested around ilm in its sales infrastructure during the past year. It had just signed a threeyear deal worth £2m to supply parts to the fleet of Riverside Truck Rental.
