WORK will begin soon on enlarging the Shell-Mex and B.P. installation at Jarrow-on-Tyne. A new loading and operating compound is to be built, and a vehicle gantry will be capable of loading 16 vehicles simultaneously from remote-controlled electric pumps, delivering 250 grim. to each point.
There will be a new vehicle-mainienance building capable of accommodating six vehicles at a time. The remodelled installation will, in addition to its already extensive distribution commitments, take over work hitherto effected from five older and smaller depots in the Tyneside area.
