A TRANSPORT manager told the South Wales Licensing Authority in Cardiff on Tuesday that the granting of A licences could contribute towards price cuts for consumers. He was Mr. E. Goodfellow, of Golmet Products, supporting an application by Glyn Day and Sons Ltd., Cowbridge. Glam., to switch their nine vehicles from Contract A to A licence.
Mr. Goodfellow said : We are not happy having to pay on a full-load basis for a part load. We could sell a product Is. cheaper if these A licences were granted."
Six objectors (including BRS) feared abstraction of traffic.
The LA, Mr. R. R. Jackson. reserved his decision.
The Licensing Authority also adjourned his decision in an application by Barleycorn Enterprises Ltd., of Cardiff, who had applied to switch eight Contract A vehicles on to an open A licence. There was one objector—British Road Services.
