* France— French police are refusing entry and imposing heavy on-the-spot fines for drivers without green cards. Vehicles are being impounded by the French police until fines are paid; drivers unable to pay the fines go to jail..
* Ukraine—Ukrainian authorities have introduced a regional road tax for driving in the area around Odessa. When entering the region foreign vehicles will be charged $20 (£13.60) transit costs $5 (£3.40).
* Inquiry—A committee set up by the European Commission to look into the operation of the Community Transit System is asking views on the system. * Morocco—Following an anti-corruption campaign in Morocco, customs authorities are now rigorously enforcing driving rules when entering passport checks. When a vehicle enters Morocco border officials enter the vehicle registration number on the drivers passport Drivers are then expected to drive the vehicles out themselves instead of handing over to a co-driver—this rule has not always been enforced by officials.
* Hungary—New toll rates have been imposed on the M1 motorway in Hungary. Artics must now pay: 3,380 Hungarian Forints.
