Hanlon,. sitting at s Newcastle upon Tyne, adjourned the hearing of applications by two hauliers for licences to carry, as sub-ccintractors, coal from open-cast sites, to allow them to find out what they. would be paid and what demand there would he for bet. services.

C., Alderson, livestoek.hauliers, Great Ashy. near Appleby, should. be revoked. No further action is to be taken. B licence. Refusing" the' application. the Authority stated that it had come . to light that for several months after • _decontrol of livestock haula.ge4hc:applicants had been operating, illegally as they had been carrying cattle for farmers outside the terms of their licence. The licence stipulated carrying for the Meat Transport Organization. Ltd.
He rejected the claim that as hay and siraw merchants the .applicants were entitled to carry for neighbouring farmers. .Apart from the circumstances referred to, he did not consider that the es idence justified an extra vehicle.

models and prices being as follows: 4-ton and 5-ton models, £109 plus £22 14s. 2d.; 7-tonners, £167 plus £34 15s. 10d.; Big Bedford passenger chassis, £167 plus £34 15s. 10d.
All prices became effective as front August 19.
