• Effluents Services Ltd, of Stockport, was granted an operator's licence for 14 vehicles plus a margin of four, in Manchester on Monday. The margin was reduced from seven to four by the North Western deputy LA, Mr A. H. Jolliffe. • Mr I. D. Holland, director of the applicant company, said that the company had a Lancaster base as well as one at Stockport. The Lancaster base would not be developed beyond its present eight vehicles. The additional vehicles would work from Stockport where six vehicles were already based. A new depot would soon be built at Stockport where at present all servicing was contracted out. Mr Holland said that his company had taken advantage of the RTITB's scheme of technical assistance to small companies. As a result of this scheme Effluents Services had instituted a system of keeping maintenance records.
Mr F. Hodgson, vehicle examiner for the Lancaster area, said that he thought the maintenance sheets would be more suitable if they contained a column for the various parts of the vehicle. He had issued a delayed prohibition on February 12 1970 and another on February 17 1970. The maintenance facilities at Lancaster were adequate but the system needed putting in order.
