A general meeting of those engaged or concerned in the long-distance haulage of goods by road, including vehicle
owners, large and small, and freight ex
changes and clearing houses, will be held at 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday, Febru
ary 18th, at Winchester House, Old Broad Street, London, B.C. The committee appointed at the general meet ing held in December last will then submiti detailed proposals, including draft memorandum and articles of association, for the formation of a long-distance road-haulage association. The committee which has been considering the matter is unanimous in
considering the urgent necessity of this
section of the road-transport industry : (1) To organize itself and possess a re
presentative body which can voice the requirements of the industry; (2) to resist attacks from any quarter; (3) to undertake necessary propaganda and counter-propaganda; (4) to form a link and friendly meeting place for the many scattered units.
A central representative council is proposed with regional committees in the principal areas of the country. The subscription will be quite small. Any details will be supplied by and application forms for membership may be obtained from the hon. secretary, Mr. E. B. Hutchinson, Lloyds Bank Chambers, Vicar Lane, Leeds.
