The Minister of Transport, acting upon the advice of the London and Home Counties Traffic Advisory Committee, has, with a view to obviating delay and congestion to traffic, made revised regulations under Section 10 of the London Traffic Act, 1924, restricting the use of any vehicle collecting refuse in the more important traffic streets in London. The effect of the regulations is to prohibit the collection of refuse between (i) the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. in certain streets, and between (ii) the hours of 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. in other streets.
These regulations, which supersede the London Traffic (Collection of Refuse) Regulations, 1927, will apply to the collection of trade refuse by private agencies as well as to house refuse collected by municipal authorities, but not to the collection of street refuse arising from the cleaning of any scheduled street. The new regulations came into force on February 2nd.
