• Sunderland's bus tokens-3m of them —will have to be scrapped. This is because the new decimal penny, which is already available in souvenir form from banks, is exactly the same size as the ticket machine tokens, which are worth 3d each. To prevent passengers from obtaining a 3d ride for a penny the transport department is introducing larger tokens and adjusting about 100 ticket machines.
