• A number of exhibits at the Inventions and New Products Exhibition—LINPEX—held in London this week are directed at commercial vehicles.
Two of the most practical from this aspect are the automatic brake condition indicator shown by F. J. (Fredl Hope, of anti-jack-knife device fame, and recently reviewed in CM. and weighing equipment shown by Simms Group Research and Development Ltd. which is similar in concept to the Hand Checkweight and is used to weight individual wheel loads.
The Hope equipment is designed for use on semi-trailers to show when the brakes need adjustment or re-lining and it won the Award of Merit for its class at the exhibition.
A licence is being sought for the manufacture of the Simms weigher and accompanying it on the stand is a filter for heater intake systems to exclude polluted air.
Another interesting exhibit is a vehicle anti-theft device by David S. Burleigh which comes into action automatically when the driver leaves his seat and is released with a special key; the system incorporates a butterfly which closes off the air intake tract.
• From next week the offices of the Traffic Commissioners and South Wales area LA will be at Dominions House, Dominions Arcade, Queen Street, Cardiff.
