The Young Enterprise organization aims to give young people an insight into business problems by allowing them to form and operate their own companies in their spare time from September to May each year. Operations commenced in the North West four years ago.
Chapodo, which was set up in autumn 1967, went into liquidation after the successful completion of the exercise and a dividend of 10 per cent was paid to the shareholders. The sponsoring companies—in this case Ferodo Ltd.—provide the necessary accommodation together with expert advice on production, sales and accounting. For Chapodo costume jewellery proved a successful pre-Christmas line but afterwards they diversified into fancy draught excluders and arm-rests for Minis.
