DISPENSATION to operate service in Maidenhead over a alternative route has been witl drawn from Alder Valley Se vices by the South-eastern Tra tic Commissioners. The decision follows a change heart by the County Counc over the suitability of the roui being used.
Dispensation was granted 'a trial period in May 1980 as pa of the Maidenhead/Slough MA applications, but the County' about-face follows the polic view was that the propose route was unsuitable because c a double S-bend.
In withdrawing the dispense tion, the Commissioner nevertheless accepted that th alternative route would hay provided convenient transpoi and Alder Valley would earn a additional £5,000 per annum i revenue as a result.
However, it was the consic ered opinion of the police tha the use of the double bends b buses was potentially danger ous.
On those grounds alone, th, Commissioners held that th, balance of public interest wa marginally against continuim the route.
In accepting the County'. view, the Commissioners had ir mind that the County had thi power to make good any finan cial loss Alder Valley might suf fer as a result.
