DRAFT Orders for the South Woodford-Hackney link road in Nortl East London have been published by the Department of Transport.
Eastern In announcing the progress, Transport Under Secretary Lynda Chalker said: "The road will provide a continuous dual carriageway linking the M11 and Cross Route and a regeneratr Docklands.
"It will provide the mud needed relief for the residenti roads which currently can heavy traffic and large numbe of lorries for which they we not planned," she said.
It is unfortunate that some r sidents will have to be r housed, she said, but they w receive compensation.
Subject to completion of tt statutory procedures, constru tion could start in 1986 ar would take two-and-a-half yea to complete, she said.
The proposed link road wou be about 6km (3.75m) long ar would feature dual three-lar carriageways except betwef Green Man and Eastern Avenu where there would be a du two-lane carriageway. A centr reservation will be provich along the whole length, b there will be no pedestrii footways.
