THE TRANSPORT MINISTER is not taken by the idea of legislation to stop lorries' travelling in convoys.
The suggestion was put forward in the Commons by Ian Lang (Tory, Galloway), who spoke of making it an °Vence for goods vehicles alcove a certain gvw to travel in 1.-losely bunched convoys.
3ut he was told by Kenneth Clarke, Parliamentary Se zetary for Transport, that Mr Fowler did not consider it ap)roptiate to try to regulate such a practice by specific legislation.
Mr Clarke pointed out that where it constituted driving in a dangerous or inconsiderate mLnner, there were already general powers available under the Road Traffic Act of 19'2.
