TRANSPORT ' SECRETARY Nicholas Ridley has called on London Regional Transport chairman Dr Keith Bright and British Rail chairman Bob Reid to co-operate more closely in providing services.
The three men are the sole members of the new London Passenger Transport Group which met for the first time last week.
Mr Ridley told them he wanted to see better interchanges between rail, bus and Underground, better co-ordinated services, routes, timetables and information to passengers including through ticketing and Travelcard arrangements.
But Mr Ridley made it clear that he did not wish to see a programme of major route closures for which there would be no need in an efficient public transport system.
