DESIGNED for prime movers and semi-trailers to comply with the latest braking regulations stipulating the use of three-line systems, a brake actuator has been announced by Berg Manufacturing (UK) Ltd., Cumbernauld, Glasgow, featuring a "piggy-back" emergency section that reduces air consumption to a minimum. It also provides straight-line power application characteristics throughout the push-rod travel and has an angled air connection boss that minimizes the possibility of damage to the union.
The section comprises a cast-aluminium cylinder and piston assembly and can if required, be readily fitted to the brake chambers of existing systems.
A fine finish is applied to the cylinder bore of the emergency section, whilst the piston is 0-ring sealed. Failure of the main diaphragm cannot effect the operational efficiency of the emergency system.
