THE past and the present were I brought together last Tuesday, when a large party of Press people were crinveyed in a horsed bus to the premises of The Car Mart, Ltd., in Euston Road.
Referred to as a Festival of Britain occasion, the opportunity was also given of entertaining the 200 agents of The Car Mart, Ltd. It was in great part an Austin show, attended by that popular personality, Mr. L. P. Lord, the chairman of the company, who was introduced by Mr. A. J. Rayment, managing director and chairman of The Car Mart, Ltd., who eulogized Mr. Lord's achievements and referred to the new factory at Longbridge as being better than anything in America.
Mr. Lord said that he was glad to see from the assembly that The Car Mart stood so high in the opinion of its agents and dealers. As regards the future, steel was getting shorter, but. fortunately, the permanent civil servants ,were getting down to their job, and through their efforts orders in connection with the armament programme were flowing more smoothly and the disruption had consequently been cased.
