"There is a clear political push and will for member states to harmonise their activity in this area," she said. "The resolution has been discussed at a high level and any concerns have been resolved. We expect it to be signed by the Council of Ministers on 9 November."
Law enforcement agencies from the UK, the Netherlands, Sweden and France outlined the steps those nations were taking to address truck crime. The UK's Truckpol, despite criticism from some quarters, was clearly ahead of most countries in this matter.
Other initiatives outlined were the "Secure Lane" project in the Netherlands, which includes CCTV, number plate recognition and close monitoring of activity, reducing truck crime. Jose Montull of the French Gendarmerie called for more co-ordinated analysis.
