IN refusing an A-licence application last week at Inverness, Mr. A. B. Birnie, Scottish deputy Licensing Authority, did not call for evidence from the objectors. The application was made by Mr. D. J. MacLeod, of Lochs, Lewis Island, for one vehicle of 3+ tons with a normal user of: "Seaweed, agricultural produce and requisites, peats and general goods within Scotland." MacLeod already held a B licence for local work.
No witnesses appeared for MacLeod, but four letters were submitted which spoke of the poor service between Lochs and Stornoway. However, Mr. Birnie said the application was far too wide and the only evidence was that for local work.
