A £250,000 two-vehicle semi-trailer leat equipped for colour outside broadcast elevision has recently gone into service vith London-based Television Recordings Ad.
One unit, 33ft long, houses all the elevision equipment and is divided into hree parts. The front section contains ,ound equipment, a production suite is in he centre and vision equipment at the rear.
The second, 30ft-long support vehicle, is itted with a Burtonwood tail-lift and ransports all the cables, lenses and mcillary sound apparatus. Its welldeck is livided into two floor levels to improve the ;towage of the many metal cable drums, with the top deck usable as a clients' viewing room or as actors' make-up and changing rooms. A sink and cooker allow for provision of light meals when on remote location.
In each case the tractive unit is a custom cab turbocharged Ford DT800. Hope anti-jack-knife systems are used and bodywork is by Coventry Steel Caravans Ltd, Newport Pagnell, Bucks, based, for the 33-footer, on a BTC step-frame and semi-trailer and on an Overland drop-frame for the support tender. Paraffin-operated Webasto warm air heaters enable the TV equipment to be ready for immediate Use on arrival at site during wintry conditions.
