FHE airman at St. Athan who lives in Birmingham cannot catch the 5.43 p.m. train home on Friday evenings because he cannot finish duty before 5 p.m. In any case, he prefers to travel home direct by special bus service from the camp."
This statement was made by an R.A.F. officer in support of an application by Streamways, Ltd., who were seeking the South Wales Licensing Authority's permission to run an express service between St. Alban and Birmingham on Friday evenings and Monday mornings.
Similar applications were made by Hill's Transport (Dinas Fowls), Ltd„ and the Western Welsh Omnibus Co., Ltd. British Railways objected to all the applications, and Western Welsh to those of the other two operators, on the ground that they operated a feeder service between the camp and Cardiff railway station.
The Authority, who said that the case was important, reserved his decision.
