DOWTY PRINTER
• A raciioprinter system developed originally in Australia has been launched in this country by Dowty Information Systems, of Chippenham in Wiltshire.
The Autoprint system was developed by Perth-based Radtek Corporation, and is used in Australia by several police authorities, the RAC (in Western Australia and Victoria), the State Emergency Service and TNT. Autoprint is available in several configurations, but unlike the Spectronics Microsystems radioprinter (described on page 34), it allows drivers to transmit printed information back to the central radio control centre.
Dowty is expected to announce the first British sale of Autoprint to a fire service in the north of England, within the next month.
At present, all Autoprint equipment is shipped into Britain from Australia, but Dowty is hoping to begin manufacturing the equipment under licence in the future.
