in its submission to the Government committee studying road traffic law, three-year minimum sentences for those convicted of causing death by reckless driving, according to a report in the Glasgow Herald, June 20.
The campaign group was formed by bereaved relatives. It has attracted the support of Labour MP Robin Cook, who has written to the Solicitor-General for Scotland, "I find it absurd that the bench appears more willing to send people to jail for stealing a car than they do for people who kill on the road," he said.
