• Two Edinburgh bus routes have been converted to Autofare ticket-issuing equipment. The conversion, carried out a fortnight ago, involves two services between the city centre and Westerhailes, a large Corporation housing development.
Fifteen Leyland AN68 Atlamteans have been converted. Despite an extensive publicity campaign, change is still being given by drivers. The move to Autofare follows extensive trials in the city earlier this year of various types of fare collection apparatus. If the current experiment proves successful the equipment may be specified for other routes.
Since October 1 old-age pensioners in the city have been travelling free of charge on Edinburgh's buses.
