AAll vehicles built on or after October 1
1972 and first used on or after April 1 1973 must have a power-to-weight ratio of 6 bhp/ton based on an installed output complying with the BSAU 141a standard. Vehicles in current use and those built before October 1 1972 will, therefore, be exempt from the regulation for the foreseeable future.
