• The price of fuel is finally coming down for bulk anti forecourt buyers following a fall in global oil prices.
Freight Transport Association economist Simon Chapman reports that bulk spot prices are currently in the region of 68p/lit, although contract prices may take another week to fall. 'Flauliers still remain under pressure in terms of margins and any relief on that pressure is very welcome," he adds. But Chapman warns that prices might fluctuate in the new year due to seasonal demand for fuel oil. The supermarkets led the way early last week with Sainsbury's slashing 2p/lit off the price of diesel and unleaded petrol. Shell, which owns about 1,100 service stations in Britain, became the first of the big oil firms to lower its prices, cutting 2p off a litre of diesel.
