FOLLOWING the testing of prototype models of the Albion Super Reiver 19 range of six-wheelers, introduced by Albion Motors Ltd., at the Scottish Motor Show, the company is now to market vehicles in this range re-rated to 20 tons g.v.w.
Models will be plated at the factory for this new rating even though there is no legal necessity for this. The increase in gross rating will allow tipper chassis to be operated with 6 cu. yd. cement-mixer equipment, although for arduous site work tippers will be restricted to 18.25 tons.
The range, renamed the Super Reiver 20, consists of two haulage models and a tipper model, all with double-drive rear axles and lockable third differential as standard.
The haulage models have wheelbases of 16 ft. 4 in. and 15 ft. 0 in., whilst the tipper chassis has a wheelbase of 12 ft. 2 in. Singledrive (trailing axle) versions of the haulage models will also be available. These will be particularly suitable for tankers carrying bulk loads ranging from petroleum to grain.
Ergornatic cabs are fitted to the Super Reiver 20, and the model is powered by the Leyland 0.400 diesel engine driving through an Albion five-speed, constant-mesh gearbox.
