HARTLEPOOL Corporation and West Hartlepool Corporation Transport have each ordered four Leyland Panther rearunderfloor-engined single-deck bus chassis to replace 65-seat double-deckers on the joint service from Church Street, West Hartlepool, to Hartlepool. The change-over is due to take place next year.
Already West Hartlepool operates or has on order 20 underfloor-engined Leylands for one-man services, but the Panthers will be the first of this type to be introduced by the undertaking.
Hartlepool Corporation's fleet consists of four AEC Regent Vs with Roe composite bodies —the smallest municipal fleet outside Colwyn Bay. These buses are operated and maintained by Bee Line Roadways (Teeside) Ltd. on behalf of Hartlepool Corporation.
