CAPABILITIES of the Black and Decker range of heavy-duty electric saws Were amply demonstrated last Friday when examples were seen cutting a variety of materials, including a length of 2-in.-diameter steel barrel. A representative of The Commercial Motor was informed that with the six classes of blade available, of which one includes three types for wood, almost any material could be dealt with.
The machines are made in four sizes, 6 in., 7 in., 8 in. and 9 in., costing £21, £25, £29 Ss., and £35 respectively. The smallest machine gives a depth of tut of 2 in., whilst the largest will cut up to 31 in. deep.
All the machines have a springloaded retracting guard which covers the cutting edge of the blade when not in use, but is withdrawn during cutting. Bevel adjustment and a base which can be set to give the required depth of cut are other features. There is also a graduated built-in rip fence.
