DEADLOCK was reached at a meeting in 1—"Conway last week between representatives of the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Works, local authorities and the police to discuss plans for relieving traffic congestion in the town, largely caused by the road arch in the town's 13th-century wall.
Mr, I. E. Owen-Jones, clerk of Caernarvonshire County Council, said that the Ministry of Transport had rejected a scheme to widen the Town Ditch Road so that Chester-bound traffic could by-pass the arch. The Ministry of Works would allow no interference with the arch because of its antiquity.
Mr. Henry. Brooke, Minister for Welsh Affairs, is to be asked to intervene.
