AN articulated vehicle has been built for the Canadian Army by Canadair, Ltd., Montreal, and may be sold on the civilian market. The prime Mover has an air-cooled engine and can carry about 3 cwt., and the towed unit has tracks and box bodywork in which about 5 cwt. can be contained,
Light alloys have been used in the construction of the Rat, as the outfit is known, permitting its use on snow or soft ground. It has been found that conventional vehicles cannot turn easily on loose surfaces. The Rat has a turning circle of 18 ft. diameter on deep snow.
Its overall length is 10 ft. 10 in. and its speed is 22 m.p.h. It has successfully been dropped by parachute. It may be sold commercially for about £3,300.
