• The Minister of Transport has laid before Parliament new regulations about driving licences and driving tests, which will come into force on June 2.
The main changes are: • The introduction of a separate licence group for vehicles with automatic transmission; • Driving test candidates will not be able to take a test on a vehicle fitted with a dual accelerator control, unless the control has been made inoperable; r: Driving test examiners will be able to require a candidate to produce his driving licence.
Drivers who have held driving licences or who have passed a driving test before June 2 1969 are not affected.
The new regulations, published on March 6, are the Motor Vehicles {Driving Licences) (Amendment) Regulations 1969.
