SPEAKING at the conference dinner, Mr. C. H. Palim, Liverpool District manager, British Road Services, said that one of the effects of the 1953 Act would be a reduction in the opportunities of training such as had been provided in the past by the British Transport Comtnission. Because of that shrinkage there was all the more need for education through professional bodies like the 10.T.A.
Mr. E. H. Burn,
national chairman, spoke of the Instiluie's hopes of developing their educational activities on a larger scale in the future. They welcomed members of all shades of opinion in the trelief that ultimately the public would benefit from their work. Mr.. F. N. White, F.S.F., M.Inst.T.A., who -presented a paper to the conference • on.vvater transport, was elected nationalchairman for the coming year.
