undertaking carried 920,562 fewer passengers in the year ended March 31, 1966—a drop of 2+ per cent compared with the previous year, but a reduction less than the national average. Mileage also decreased by 16,721. But receipts were £765 higher.
Total mileage was 4,405,021; passengers numbered 36,406,734; receipts were £795,046 and working expenses £790,808; Ten new Leyland PD2A-27 buses (64 seats) were put into service between August and December, 1965. Five of the vehicles have bodies by East Lancashire Coach Builders Ltd., and five have Northern Counties bodies. Average age of the fleet at the end of the financial year was 11.1 years.
