BELFAST City bus chief Mr Werner Heubeck gambled with his life last week when he removed a suspected bomb from the rear of a bus in the centre of Belfast.
The suspect parcel was found on a seat inside a bus at the security cordon near Donegall Place, Belfast, around lunchtime. The area was sealed pff and evacuated while Army personnel in the area investigated. While bomb disposal men used caution, Mr Heubeck boarded the vehicle and carried out the package—which was found to he an empty cardboard box.
He said later: "It is not a matter about which I want to make any comment." Security forces, however, have constantly advised the public not to "have a go" when they discover suspect objects that could be bombs.
