MR. J. FISHER has been appointed office manager in Unaguay for the Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd.
COL. SIR JOSEPH NALL, D.S.O., T.D.. D.L.. J.P., M.INs-r.T., has accepted the presidency for 1951 of the Omnibus Society.
MR. R. A. HysLor, assistant general sales manager of Anglo-American Oil Co., Ltd., recently completed 40 years' service with the company.
MR. W. H. Swim has been appointed general manager of Birmingham Transport Department. He succeeds the late Ma. A. C. BAKER. Mr. Smith joined the department in 1912 as a junior clerk. He became traffic superintendent in 1942.
MR. J. W. FLETCHER, M.Inst.T., East Midland Licensing Authority, has been elected chairman of the East Midlands Section of the Institute of Transport, in place of MR. C. H. STAFFORD, Minst.T., who resigned because of ill-health. Mr. Fletcher becomes an ex-officio member of the council.
SIR JOHN BLACK, deputy chairman and managing director of the Standard Motor Co., Ltd., will attend the Brussels Show next month with MR. A. S. DICK, assistant managing director, MR. W. J. R. WARREN, general sales manager, and MR. B. TURNBULL, service manager. In February, Sir John leaves for an extensive tour of the South American markets, accompanied by Mr. Warren and MR. M. WHITFIELD, repairs manager.
PRICE OF STATE CONTROL
UP to October 31, provisional ascertainments of compensation totalling £25,684,000, in respect of road haulage undertakings compulsorily acquired, had been calculated, pending final settlements. A sum of £23,116,000 is now payable. Payments on account in cash and stock amounted to 122,413,362.
The Minister of Transport gave this information, last week, in a written reply to Mr. Reader Harris.

A PROPOSAL by the Road Safety r %Committee that all new vehicles should carry two rear lights and one reflector is under consideration by the Minister of Transport.
