• As part of a plan to double diesel engine output to meet worldwide demands, Volvo has acquired the entire production machinery of the Hanomag diesel engine plant in Hanover. The machines will be freed from Hanomag production during the first half of 1973 and after overhauling, the greater part of them will be transferred to the Volvo engine plant at Skovde. The total contract is worth over £5m.
"By acquiring the Hanomag production resources Volvo will be practically able to double its diesel engine capacity within a 'ew years," said director Bengt Darnfors of kl3 Volvo.
