• Lincolnshire coach firm, Blands of Stamford, is planninj a 'commuter express' to beat massive price increases in Brit ish Rail season tickets.
The service is to start in January, running from Peterborough into central London, and will be about 220 per weel cheaper than the train.
Stephen Bland, whose coad company in Stamford has previously concentrated on school runs and holiday tours, got the idea for the new service after reading stories in his local newspapers of rail commuters protesting about the new fares Already 30 people have said they want to use the service and two buses will operate, one from Peterborough and one from Stamford.
"We have done a dummy ru to work out timings and we estimate about two and a half hours from Peterborough to King's Cross," says Bland. "We also aim to be flexible so we can drop people off at tube stations en route if required."
