semi-trailer without spray suppression when magistrates accepted that the prosecution had failed to prove that the company was "using" the trailer concerned. Traffic examiner Patricia Earp said she had been on duty during a vehicle check at Wall on 14 January when an articulated outfit belonging to Joseph Hoyle had been stopped with a trailer that had had no spray suppression equipment fitted.
Earp told the court that she had looked at the operator's licence disc displayed in the cab of the vehicle, which indicated that the artic was being operated by Joseph Hoyle and that a representative of the company had made no comment 1 when the offence had been put to him.
For Joseph Hoyle, Michael Paterson said tha all the prosecution had shown was that the vehicle had been carrying an 0licence identity disc indicating that Joseph Hoyle Transport was the operator.
