THE POST OFFICE is now offering a computerised proof of delivery (POD) for the parcels sent by its business customers.
The new system, called Trakback, uses bar-coded labels attached to the parcels before they are despatched. The labels give computercoded information about the parcel and its consignor.
After delivery, the coded part of the label (with a signature) is fed into a new Trakback response centre in Leeds.
Customers can call the response centre and be told within seconds whether or not the parcel has been delivered.
Trakback costs 10p per parcel. It is already available to the 4,0(X) existing commercial customers of the receipted parcels service and it will be offered to all business users in July.
