E'OLLOWING research by the Linen Industry Researc
Association and development work by The Boase Spinnit Co. Ltd., a new material for tarpaulins has been develope It is basically a linen duck incorporating alternate threads I cotton in the warp. The new material is reported to have bet tested for two years in laboratories and in service, and it now marketed under the name Lincoduck in weights of 16 o and 12 oz.
Accelerated weathering tests are claimed to have shown th. Lincoduck retains its density and impermeability to water ev( after prolonged weathering. A lorry sheet in daily use fi more than two years is said to have been found tighter in weal than when it was new and equally as waterproof. Lincodut is claimed to have all the characteristics required for a Ion sheet—light weight, high strength, capacity to breathe, excellei waterproof quality—and it is said to be cheaper than synthet materials. Tarpaulins in the material can be ordered from a leading makers-up and samples can be obtained from it manufacturers.
