• Scotland must have a "first class infrastructure" if it is to compete with England effectively after the opening of the Channel Tunnel, says Freight Transport Association president Tony Stanton.
Speaking at the ETA's Scottish dinner this week, Stanton outlined a 'transport charter' including an A70-M74 link road and improvements to the A9 and A96 in the north of Scotland; a third crossing of the Forth; and motorway links to be built between Edinburgh and Newcastle.
A decision on the Scottish Chunnel terminal must be made quickly, he added.
