After reading your News Extra (August 18), I would like to pass a few comments.
Mr Meacher is quoted as saying Japanese Hino trucks would be less durable and suited to English conditions than our own product.
If Mr Meacher was to go to Southern Ireland he would be surprised. The majority of three-axled tippers carry the Hino badge. Not only that, but they carry considerably more payload than we would allow on the mainland. Of course they stand up to the increased load, because the Irish roads, complete with pot holes, are far inferior to any roads we have in England.
