The Port of London Authority plans, with a Government grant of up to £35 million, to give the port stable sociable future", the Department of Transport records.
The Concise Oxford Dictionary defines "sociable" as: "Fitted for companionship, ready and willing to converse : marked by friendliness . . ." These are not qualities that I readily associate with London dockers, but, of course, money talks, I would be willing to submerge my scruples and converse with a docker for rather less than £35 million
