DON'T FREEZE UP THIS WINTER • Firms are already cashing in on this winter's potential antifreeze shortage with cheaper alternative products.
To combat the lack of ethylene glycol, which has trebled the price of antifreeze in recent months, Blenders, the oil division of Morris and Company, has launched a non-toxic antifreeze based on propylene glycol.
Another product, called Additt, has also been launched. Its manufacturer claims antifreeze is costing fleet operators around £15 a truck, while Additt costs £2.50 a truck. RYDER MAKES A NOISE ABOUT REVERSING MI Ryder truck rental has so far fitted nearly 3,000 reversing bleepers to its UK fleet since the first purchase was made from supplier Brigade Electronics of London, nearly two years ago.
Director of maintenance John Taylor says Brigade's YFC EA13 bleepers lead the field. They retail for 214.
