AN extension is to be made to the Albion Motors' factory at Scotstoun, Glasgow. The work will cost £200,000 and the project will go ahead while waiting approval for the proposed new factory at Dumbarton. The company have bought a two-acre site to house an expanded gear-manufacturing department, and a spokesman for the firm has said that all the other departments would be able to expand as a result.
BUSMEN'S CONCILIATION OFFER
FOLLOWING the rejection last week of 1 the claims of the provincial busmen for improved pay and conditions, a similar claim by municipal transport employees was handled somewhat differently two days later.
On the latter occasion an offer to refer the claim to a joint wages committee was made. The committee is due to meet on January 12. Should this first step in conciliation procedure not result in agreement, the claim is likely to go for arbitration.
