• Express parcels carrier Parceline will take its first major step into logistics next month with a warehousing and distribution contract in the financial services sector.
The contract, which demands 800m2 of storage space, will take up most of the warehouse
capacity at Parceline's Smethwick hub. But Parceline chief executive Cohn Millbanks says there are plenty of local warehouses which could be used for other contracts.
Ile expects the logistics package to appeal to importers and parts suppliers who do not want to keep large stocks themselves and whose goods can be put through the hub: "We are not going to compete with Marks & Spencer warehouses," says Millbanks, "that is not our business."
