• Following a plea of guilty to a charge of using a bus on A6 at Quorn, Leics, in a dangerous condition, Trent Bus Co Ltd was fined £25 and ordered to pay £15 costs. The prosecution alleged that a police officer noticed that the front nearside wheel of the bus was wobbling and when he stopped the bus he discovered that six of the 10 wheel bolts were loose.
Defending solicitor told the court that a tyre firm had removed the wheel to fit a new tyre and it was the fault of the fitter, who had been disciplined by his employers for failing to tighten the bolts.
The driver of the bus, James Reginald Tebbutt, of Woodhouse Eaves, near Loughborough, was given an absolute discharge after pleading guilty to using the bus in a dangerous condition.
