BETT BROTHERS, builder and developer of Dundee, is using a two-way-radio system in a bid to reduce vehicle operating costs, which it hopes will also improve communications and increase the company's overall efficiency.
The Pye Telecommunications radio system used incorporates a Mascot 1000 controller, enabling radio networks to be connected to telephone switchboards, telex facilities and other peripheral systems.
Pye says it is the first Mascot 1000 to be installed by a commercial user, and Batt Brothers is also among the first users of 1.5GHz link equipment. Other equipment includes over 150 Pye Olympic mobile radio-telephones, which are all vehiclemounted.
Pye Telecom has also installed radio-link equipment which extends the company's radio coverage from Dundee to Edinburgh, and further links are being considered.
